bite my lip

I bit my lip till it bleed
Every night and then again
When I awoke to that silly grin
And the words you say again and again

The look on your face
When you opened up
Was more perfect than words
I saw myself

And you bite your lip
As if it's a reply
to the question on our minds
while the silence is screaming

No, stop, you're already lost
go back the way you came
but the warning is drowned
by the laughter of children

The fire is hot
But burnt fingers
are no relief
outside in the bitter cold

Our lips draw blood
as we bite down hard
trying to stop the corners
of our mouths creeping up

It's the little things
that create desire
It's all in the smile
